Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands- Following the completion of last Saturdays Track & Field Meet (February 5) staged at the Truman Bodden Stadium, by the Cayman Islands Athletic Association (CIAA), three athletes have staked strong claims to be considered for selection to represent the country at the 2022 Annual Carifta Games to be staged in Jamaica at their National Stadium, in Kingston between the 15th and 18th April 2022.
Leading the pack was veteran Carifta Games representative, Ashantae Graham who leapt to a distance of 5.43m to better the qualifying standard of 5.39m. Another Carifta Games representative, Brianna Smith easily passed the 9.73m qualifying standard for the U20 Girls Shot Put with a distance of 10.44m. Promising male High Jumper, Josh Gardner, looked impressive in the U20 Boys High Jump when he bettered the qualifying height for consideration (1.93m) by equaling his Personal Best of 1.95m.
Other Personal Bests were recorded by Aliyanna Fisher and Camerin Porter in the U20 and U17 Girls Discus respectively, while Rashawn Robinson (11.66) and Aaliyannah Anderson (12.59) flirted with the Carifta qualifying standards for the U17 Boys and Girls 100m events.
